Ethernet WAN
Ethernet originally developed as a protocol for Local Area Networking. Its then high data transmission rate of 10mbps proved too costly for most organisations to deploy over the WAN due to bandwidth costs. However, as wide area bandwidth costs reduced and higher bandwidths became readily available, cost effective Ethernet WAN networks are now a plausible option for many organisations.
